The Peruvian conglomerate reported that this is an exclusively business decision.

Grupo Gloria, a Peruvian conglomerate dedicated to the food sector, announced yesterday through a statement the decision to close its cheese manufacturing plant in Uruguay due to different factors linked to the operation itself and the labor market.

In this way, they fired 43 of their employees and suspended the collection of milk from local producers, according to international media.

“The company has decided to dispense with its services and its last day of work is today, Saturday, May 4, 2024,” said the company's message via WhatsApp, adding that it is an exclusively business decision.

Only 10 employees will continue their work until the final closure.

Likewise, and according to sources close to the company, present for more than a decade, the difficult situation of the dairy sector in the country made it unfeasible to maintain operations despite the efforts.

It is recalled that in 2023 they had announced an investment in the plant.
