Avianca comes out of losses in the first quarter and earns US$ 13 million

As reported by the company, sales grew by 16.4% year-on-year in the first quarter, reaching a turnover of US$ 1,265 million.

The Colombian airline Avianca has managed to come out of losses in the first quarter of the year, after achieving a net profit of US$ 13 million in this period compared to the 'red numbers' of US$ 12 million in the first three months of the previous year.

As reported today by the company, sales grew by 16.4% year-on-year in the first quarter, reaching a turnover of US$ 1,265 million.

Revenue from passenger transportation, which represents more than 85% of Avianca's turnover, grew by 20.6% year-on-year. On the contrary, turnover for freight transportation fell by just over 3%.

For their part, operating costs rose 15.2% from the first quarter of 2023, reaching US$ 1,131 million.

Meanwhile, the operating result for the first quarter was US$ 134.4 million, which represents a growth of 26.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The CEO of Avianca, Frederico Pedreira, highlighted that the company has obtained "solid" operating results in the first quarter, while maintaining its commitment to transport its customers to more destinations at an affordable price.
