5 scholarship programs for Ecuadorian students

1. Carolina Foundation

This institution offers postgraduate scholarships in areas such as: science and new technologies; energy, environment, sustainability and infrastructure; Health Sciences; Economy and Finance; business organization and development; Social and Legal Sciences; arts, humanities and communication.

In addition, it offers financial support to university professors from Latin America who wish to obtain a doctorate in Spain. It also has programs for short-term studies.

Those interested in obtaining scholarships related to entrepreneurship projects and video games, and even a master's degree in culinary arts and kitchen management, can review the wide offering of this Foundation .

The deadline to submit applications for postgraduate, entrepreneurship and institutional studies programs expires on March 6; and the deadline to apply for doctoral scholarships and short stays expires on April 7.

2. Ibero-American University Foundation (Funiber)

Based in Ecuador, the Ibero-American University Foundation offers scholarships in areas such as environment, health and nutrition, sports, ICT Technologies, communication, tourism, architecture, psychology, languages, among others.

Scholarships are also available to obtain the highest academic degree: Doctor.

This Foundation brings together academic offers from institutions in Latin America, Central America, Spain, Italy, the United States and Africa.

3. Fulbright Scholarship

The Fulbright Scholarship Program for Ecuadorian students offers to cover graduate and doctoral programs in the United States.

Among the basic requirements are having very good knowledge of English, excellent academic records, not having previously resided in the United States for a period of more than nine months in recent times, and committing to returning to Ecuador for at least two years after completing the studies. studies.

Fulbright presents eight types of scholarships or programs for Ecuadorians : Fulbright Estudiantes Scholarship, Fulbright-Senescyt Scholarship; University Teacher Development Scholarship; Scholarship for Doctoral Studies in Science and Technology; Visiting Scholar Research Grant; Teaching in Residence Program; Hubert Humphrey Program; Fulbright Nexos Program.

Each scholarship or program has specific requirements. For example, the Fulbright Student Scholarship does not limit the area of study; while in the Fulbright-Senescyt Scholarship , which is co-financed by the Government of Ecuador, the careers to which it can be applied are specified.

The closing of the 2017 Call for those who must take institutional TOEFL, GRE or GMAT exams (exams that test English language proficiency) is February 15; and for those who already have current official results of said exams, the deadline is extended to April 30.

4. OAS Scholarships

The Academic Scholarship Program of the Organization of American States (OAS) maintains offers for undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies.

Applicants can apply to their different programs, where they can apply to academic institutions on the American continent or to specific programs on other continents.

Certain scholarships allow you to choose the study modality (in-person, distance learning or a combination).

The regular program specifies that applications must focus on eight areas: Social development and generation of productive employment; education; economic diversification and integration, trade openness and access to markets; scientific development and technology exchange and transfer; strengthening democratic institutions; sustainable development of tourism; sustainable development and environment; culture.

However, opportunities in different areas of study are detailed on the website. To apply, the requirements are: to be a citizen or permanent resident of any of the OAS Member States; have a university degree at the time of applying, present a grade point average above average, have good physical and mental health, among other specifications according to the program.

5. Chevening Scholarships

The Chevening Scholarship Program offers to finance Ecuadorians who wish to study postgraduate programs at a university in the United Kingdom.

The areas of study they support are: climate change, democracy, development and diplomacy, governance, human rights, international trade, journalism, communication, sustainable development and business and investments.

Of course, those who wish to apply for these scholarships must verify that their level of English is suitable for pursuing university studies in the United Kingdom . If selected, the program will cover everything from visa costs to the expenses to complete the thesis.

The program's website lists 21 partner universities, including the University of Cambridge, the University of Birmingham and the University of Glasgow.
