The Chilean leader assured that he has been attentive to the reactions, "positive, skeptical, critical and enthusiastic, and I understand that, due to the strategic nature of this policy, its magnitude and relevance, it could not be otherwise."
The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, inaugurated the XVII version of Expomin, the largest mining fair in Latin America, where he defended himself from criticism for the recently announced National Lithium Strategy. "I tell Javier (Macaya) and those who express their doubts and observations, first that I do not aspire to become either Ricardo Lagos or Salvador Allende. I do aim to learn from the long experience of our country and those who preceded me, from the good and the bad, but not to replicate a model that has already passed," the President assured in his opening speech. Boric assured that after the announcement of the National Lithium Strategy he has been attentive to the reactions, "positive, skeptical, critical and enthusiastic, and I understand that, due to the strategic nature of this policy, due to its magnitude and relevance, this could not be otherwise." "The easiest thing would have been to do nothing and leave things as they are, but I believe that is not the way, that is not the way to govern, we must face the challenges, head on, convene and dialogue," the President assured. He also assured that the Government is working to create scenarios for private individuals to carry out the business and investments they deem necessary and with certainty, but that necessary changes must be made. "Certainty is not synonymous with status quo, it is having clear rules that the State and everyone respects. My Government believes in sustainable and gradual changes, we believe in better wealth distribution, and that the certainties needed for investment are the same certainties that our people need to live better," said Gabriel Boric. To achieve the best scenarios for economic development, and to reach the necessary agreements, the President assured that "it is necessary for all of us to lower our guard, to lower the distrust based on prejudices." "When we all act with greater humility, starting at home, I have no doubt that we will be able to understand each other and reach agreements that benefit everyone," the President assured.
