According to the latest export report published by the General Directorate of Export Promotion (ProChile), in addition to China, in the same period Switzerland, India and the United Kingdom are the markets with the highest growth.

Non-copper – non-lithium exports as of March 2024 totaled US$12,337 million, where China positioned itself as the main destination for Chilean shipments with a cumulative US$3,618 million, 8.4% more than in 2023.

Cherries, cellulose, iron, fresh plums and iodine were the main products imported by China between January and March, covering 82% of non-copper – non-lithium shipments from Chile to that country.

"When looking at the figures one can see that China continues to be a very important market for our exports with outstanding growth. In fact, this year, at the end of the second semester, we will carry out the ninth version of Chile Week China, to continue expanding our commercial relations with this giant where our country still has a lot to grow, not only in terms of volumes, but also in the diversification of our exports,” highlighted the General Director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández.

In addition to the Asian giant, the figures show that the markets with the greatest growth in the January – March quarter were Switzerland, mainly explained by the better performance of shipments of Gold Manufacturing (US$ 180 million, +61.2%), Services (US$ 34 million, +122.5%), Red wine, bottled, blends (US$ 0.58 million, +73.2%) and Red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, bottled (US$ 0.56 million, + 52%).

They are followed by India (US$ 157 million, +40.5%), growth explained by the increase in shipments of Molybdenum (US$ 54 million, +32.4%) and Iodine (US$ 47 million, +155), and the United Kingdom (US$ 1,966 million, +21.2%), where shipments of fresh blueberries stand out with US$ 33 million with an increase of +19.5%, Services (US$ 25 million, +48.7 %) and Bulk red wine (US$ 13 million, +49.3%).

“India's growth pushes us to continue working to enter that market of millions of inhabitants, which is a challenge for our country, but which means diversification of our exports and greater growth. This year, in August, we will hold the first version of Chile Week India, which we hope will mean another step in the consolidation of our commercial relationship with that country,” highlighted the General Director.

Services continue to grow

Service exports totaled US$609 million, +46.6% more than the previous year. The services that stand out during January to March were tics (US$ 178 million, +62.2%), maintenance and repair (US$ 117 million, +58%), financial (US$ 56 million, +8%) and research and development (US$ 55 million, +97.4%).

The most important market for receiving Chilean services was Peru with US$ 150 million, growing +46%. Following this is the United States with US$ 121 million, with a growth of +42.3% and Colombia with US$ 47 million, with a variation of +18.1% increase.

This upward trend continues with respect to 2023, where we close with a record number of exports of almost US$ 2,150 million.
