Mexico received more than 2.1 million tourists by air in January

The United States, Canada and Colombia added 1.6 million tourists, which represents an increase of 4.2% compared to January 2023.

More than 2.1 million international tourists arrived in Mexico by air in January, which represents 2.6% more visitors compared to those who entered the country in the same month of the previous year, according to figures from the Migration Policy Unit-Registration and Identity of Persons of the Ministry of the Interior.

In addition, it is worth noting that the number of visitors by air in January is 23.1% higher than in January 2019, as disclosed by the Ministry of Tourism based on the same data.

The main countries in arrivals of international tourists by air to Mexico according to their nationality in January 2024 were the United States, Canada and Colombia, adding 1.6 million tourists, which represents an increase of 4.2% compared to January 2023 .

The arrival of tourists from the United States was 1.18 million, with an increase of 2.9% compared to the same month in 2023 and an increase of 45.1% compared to the level registered in January 2019, when 817,315 visitors were recorded. .

For their part, a total of 397,324 Canadian tourists arrived in Mexico in January 2024. This is 10.8% higher than the same month in 2023, and 11% higher than the 357,962 tourists from this country in January 2019.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Colombians by air was 60,163, exceeding by 22.7% the visits in January 2019, which were 49,380 tourists.

The airports with the highest arrival of international tourists were Cancún, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta, which added a total of 1.56 million international passengers, which exceeds the arrivals of January 2023 by 2.1%, and by 20. 5% those of the first month of 2019.
