The legal body has 13 articles and its objective is to guarantee immediate justice regarding dispossessions that are ordered or executed directly by the White House, said the president.

The Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, signed this week the Law for the Protection of the Assets, Rights and Interests of the Republic and its Entities Abroad. This is a new legal instrument that comes into force to confront US sanctions against the South American country.

The legal text was previously approved in the Venezuelan parliament unanimously and upon its promulgation it provides legal tools to the Venezuelan State for the defense of the assets of the Republic that are abroad.

"We have a new legal and constitutional instrument to protect all the heritage that belongs to all Venezuelan men and women. Comply with it!" emphasized the president.

The head of the ruling faction in parliament and main spokesperson for the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, told Maduro during a television program that the new law "complements perfectly" with the Organic Law of Domain Extension , valid since the end of April.

Both leaders reported that the new law has 13 articles and its objective is to guarantee the people of Venezuela immediate justice regarding dispossessions that are ordered or executed directly by the White House.

These dispossessions against Venezuelan property and assets carried out by Washington are a fundamental part of the White House's policy of unilateral sanctions against Caracas.

Cabello explained that the law declares the nullity of any act that seeks to confiscate the assets of the Republic, obliges all Venezuelans to protect the country's assets and also establishes individual legal responsibilities for those who attack the country's assets.

Maduro reported that the law is an expression of democracy in the country since it was debated by more than 135 people belonging to universities and different State organizations. In addition, 1,800 people gave their opinion on the law through a public consultation called by parliament.

"A MOCKER AT PETRO"

On May 1, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States Department of the Treasury issued the so-called license 42 against Citgo, authorizing the Venezuelan opposition to any negotiations and giving way to the embargo of the aforementioned PDVSA subsidiary.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, also described the measure as a mockery against the process of conversations on the Venezuelan political reality convened by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, since it seeks to strip the Venezuelan State of the Venezuelan state oil company Citgo, based in Houston.
