Gabriel Boric pointed out that the signing of this protocol is "good news for commerce, agriculture and, by the way, for the economy of our country, which, as I have said repeatedly, this is the year of its takeoff."

The president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, led this Friday the signing of a customs protocol with China, whose signatures were signed by the vice minister of Customs of the Asian giant, Wang Lingjun; and the Minister of Agriculture of Chile, Esteban Valenzuela.

The protocol, highlighted the Chilean Government, will allow the export of shelled almonds to China, thus diversifying trade between both parties.

This was framed in the provisions of the Sustainable Agro-Export Competitiveness Agenda 2023-2025, a public-private work.

It was highlighted, along the same lines, that our country is the first in the world to have all its fresh fruits authorized to enter the Chinese market (table grapes, apples, pears, plums, nectarines, cherries, blueberries, kiwis, avocados, lemons, oranges, clementines; and now peaches and apricots).

In the 2022-2023 season, Chile exported 574,046 tons of fresh fruits to China. The main export is cherries (364,000 tons).

TAKEOFF OF THE CHILEAN ECONOMY

President Boric said that the signing of this protocol is “good news for commerce, agriculture and, by the way, for the economy of our country, which, as I have said repeatedly, this is the year of its takeoff.”

He added that events like this are the result of both the “good work” of both the government and previous administrations.

The Chilean head of state valued the work carried out with the private sector so that businessmen and entrepreneurs "develop in highly competitive markets."

Finally, he recalled that in 2023, during a tour to China, both countries signed four agricultural agreements (Carozos Sanitary Opening Protocol; Cooperation of Organic Food Certificates; Paperless Phytosanitary Certification and Development of a Chinese Demonstration Farm in Chile).

In total, 13 cooperation agreements in different matters were signed during this tour.
