São Paulo Airport, the second busiest in Brazil, will receive an investment of US$ 399 million

This was stated this Monday by the Minister of Ports and Airports of Brazil, Silvio Costa Filho, accompanied by representatives of Aena Brasil, the new manager of the terminal since last October 2023.

The Congonhas-São Paulo airport in Brazil, the second busiest in the country, will receive an investment of more than 2 billion Brazilian reais (US$399 million) for its complete expansion and modernization.

This was stated this Monday by the Minister of Ports and Airports of Brazil, Silvio Costa Filho, accompanied by representatives of Aena Brasil, the new manager of the terminal since last October 2023.

In the coming years, the airport will receive a multimillion-dollar investment to expand its infrastructure and passenger volume, providing them with greater convenience and comfort.

The investment plan includes complex works necessary to accommodate the increase in tourists projected by the concessionaire. The expectation is that the terminal will receive a third more travelers, going from 22 million, according to data released by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) last year, to 29.5 million.

"The works that will be carried out here will bring planning and development to the state of São Paulo, but, above all, improvements for passengers who come to visit the state, which today is a reference not only in Brazil, but in the world," he said. the minister pointed out.

Although the completion of the works is scheduled for 2028, Costa Filho has requested priority so that half of the works can be carried out until 2026. "I hope that we can accelerate these works as soon as possible, so that we already have practically half of these ready." delivery," he noted.

NEW STRUCTURE

The airport will expand its boarding and arrival area, reaching 105,000 square meters. The location will also have a new check-in room with 72 spacious and accessible positions, up to 108, and a new dock 36 meters wide and 330 meters long.

The boarding bridges will also be expanded, going from 12 to 19, guaranteeing that at least 70% of boarding operations are carried out directly to the aircraft. Additionally, there will be 10 remote boarding gates and 13 automatic boarding pass readers.

The airport site will also gain operational capacity. With a new 215,000 square meter platform for commercial aviation, which will include an increase from 30 to 37 aircraft stopping positions, 19 of which are on bridges and 18 remote.

After the interventions, all staging posts will be prepared to receive modern and larger commercial aircraft.

Now it will undergo major changes, becoming more efficient and offering much more space and comfort to passengers" , stated the general director of Aena Brazil, Santiago Yus.
