Colombia welcomed more than 1.7 million international tourists in the first quarter of the year, representing a 2.9% drop in visitors compared to the first three months of the previous year, according to a report by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO) on Monday.
In fact, between January and March 2025, Colombia received an average of nearly 572,000 non-resident visitors per month, a figure lower than that recorded in the same period in 2024, when the monthly average was approximately 589,300 arrivals.
It's worth noting that Colombia closed 2024 with just over 6.9 million visitors, representing an increase of nearly 12% compared to 2023.
Anato's CEO, Paula Cortés, has described it as "essential" to work to strengthen strategies aimed at promoting the arrival of non-resident Colombians to their country. During the first quarter of 2025, 358,476 Colombians arrived in Colombia, a 24.9% decrease compared to the first three months of 2024.
"Tourism promotion and air connectivity initiatives have yielded positive results, encouraging international tourists to discover the country's attractions and, consequently, generating foreign currency," said Paula Cortés, CEO of Anato.
Cortés has also expressed his desire to continue promoting, in collaboration with the government and the relevant entities, information about yellow fever vaccination as a preventive measure to ensure this does not negatively impact tourism.
