Gustavo Adrianzén is the new Prime Minister of Peru

He will replace Alberto Otárola, who resigned the day before after the broadcast of compromising audios and was present at the swearing-in ceremony.

This morning Gustavo Adrianzén Olaya was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Peru, in a ceremony led by President Dina Boluarte, in the Government Palace. “By God and for the country, I do swear,” said Adrianzén after swearing to take office.

He will replace Alberto Otárola, who resigned the day before after the broadcast of compromising audios and was present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Adrianzén, a lawyer by profession, was Peru's permanent representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), based in the United States, since last February 2023.

He was also Minister of Justice and Human Rights during the administration of then President Ollanta Humala, during which he also assumed the role of Vice Minister of Justice.

The new premier has a degree in Law from the Alcalá de Henares University in Madrid (Spain), a specialist in public administration and government management, with a master's degree in Public Administration and Management from the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) in Madrid, a center in who also obtained the diploma from the II Course in Public Policies for Social Development.

Likewise, Adrianzén is a specialist in human rights, with postgraduate studies in Geneva (Switzerland), Strasbourg (France), San José de Costa Rica and Florence (Italy).
