
The coffee-producing country's foreign sales exceeded US$4.3 billion.
The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) reported that, in March, Colombian exports totaled US$4.338 billion, representing a 12.2% increase compared to the same month last year.
The largest sales were in the fuels and extractive industry products group, with US$1,709.7 million, representing a 12.2% drop.
This was followed by agricultural products, food, and beverages, with US$1.398 billion and a 50.9% increase; and manufacturing, which consolidated at US$889.5 million and a 16% increase.
In March, Colombia's largest export was oil, oil-derived products, and related products.
The value of these sales was US$1.3995 billion, representing a 2.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
Coffee sales also played a leading role, with exports totaling US$538.3 million, representing a significant growth of 135.5%.
Colombia's third largest export was cut flowers and foliage, which represented sales of US$274.8 million, representing a 23.4% growth.
So far this year (January - March), Colombia's exports total US$11.8951 billion, representing a 5.3% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024.
“In the period January - March 2025, exports of the Fuels and extractive industry products group were US$ 4,777.5 million and decreased 14.7% compared to the same period in 2024. This behavior was mainly due to the fall in external sales of Coal, coke and briquettes (-43.0%) and Petroleum, petroleum products and related products (-5.4%), which together contributed 17.2 negative percentage points to the group's variation,” DANE stated.
For the same quarter, exports of the Agricultural, food and beverage products group were US$ 3,683.2 million and showed a growth of 36.9% compared to the same period in 2024, mainly as a result of the increase in sales of Unroasted Coffee, decaffeinated or not (103.4%) and Cut flowers and foliage (8.9%) which together contributed 29.1 percentage points to the group's variation.
Finally, external sales of manufactured goods amounted to US$2,439.8 million, which implied an increase of 6%, mainly due to the increase in exports of Chemical products and related products (12.2%) and Manufactured articles, classified mainly according to the material (6.0%) which together contributed 6.3 percentage points to the group's variation.
The main destinations for Colombian exports are the United States (32.3%), Panama (11%), China (4.7%), the Netherlands (4%), Ecuador (3.5%), Brazil (3%), Mexico (3%) and others (38.6%).
